Divisional Commissioner Jammu Inspects Infrastructure Projects And Amarnath Yatra Arrangements In Kathua
KATHUA: May 14, 2026: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar conducted a comprehensive visit to Kathua district today to monitor the progress of major infrastructure initiatives and review administrative preparedness for several upcoming events.
The tour included a detailed inspection of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and various sections of the National Highway, where the Divisional Commissioner engaged with executing agencies to ensure projects meet quality standards and strict deadlines.
Special attention was given to the reconstruction of the Sahar and Ravi bridges, which were damaged by floods last year, with instructions issued to expedite work to alleviate the inconvenience faced by commuters and transporters.
During his assessment of the Lakhanpur Corridor, the Divisional Commissioner focused on beautification, traffic management, and civic improvements essential for the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir.
These efforts are part of a broader review of arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. He directed district authorities to ensure seamless coordination across all departments to provide essential amenities such as drinking water, sanitation, health services, and security for the pilgrims.
The administration was urged to finalize all logistical preparations well in advance to ensure a smooth and safe experience for the visiting devotees.The visit also featured a review of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, where Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma reported that approximately 7,300 awareness activities have been conducted during the current 100-day campaign.
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar emphasized the importance of tracking recovery progress for those leaving treatment centers and encouraged teachers to monitor behavioral changes in students. To strengthen community surveillance, he called for strict vigilance at border points and the involvement of local surveillance committees.
Additionally, he reviewed the digitization of revenue records and the processing of ownership cases for displaced persons, stressing the need for error-free data and the timely disposal of pending applications.
