ULFA-I cadre surrenders to security forces in Nagaland

KOHIMA, May 12, 2026 — A cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent surrendered before the Assam Rifles and other security agencies in Nagaland on May 11.

The surrender follows a period of sustained outreach and strategic coordination efforts by the security forces aimed at encouraging insurgents to return to the mainstream.

During the process, authorities recovered one smartphone from the individual. This development is seen as a result of the ongoing initiatives by the government and security apparatus to maintain peace and stability in the region.

The successful surrender highlights the continuing focus on the rehabilitation of misguided youth and the reduction of insurgency-related activities in the Northeast.
