Digital Warfare and Cyber Security Focus as LG Manoj Sinha Inducts New Jammu Kashmir Police Constables

SRINAGAR, MAY 10: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha handed over appointment letters to approximately 4,000 newly recruited constables of the Jammu Kashmir Police today during a ceremony at the Armed Police Complex in Zewan. The new recruits were selected through a merit-based process conducted by the J&K Service Selection Board.

While congratulating the personnel, Sinha emphasized that joining the force is an acceptance of a legacy defined by sacrifice and national service. He praised the police for their role in maintaining peace and progress across the Union Territory, describing the force as a benchmark of excellence in counter-terrorism and the rule of law.

During the event, Sinha highlighted the changing nature of internal security, noting that modern battlefields now extend beyond physical borders into the digital realm. He warned that contemporary threats such as narco-terrorism, cybercrime, and narrative warfare are increasingly driven by technology and encrypted networks rather than traditional weapons.

He pointed out that today’s most dangerous criminals often exploit data and code to operate across borders, making these digital threats a stark reality of the present day that can destroy livelihoods and erode public trust.

The Lieutenant Governor urged the Jammu Kashmir Police to develop a comprehensive roadmap to become future-ready by integrating Artificial Intelligence into their operations. He stressed the importance of leveraging robust digital infrastructure to combat modern criminal tactics and reiterated that the complete eradication of terrorism remains the administration’s top priority.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and other senior officials from the police and civil administration, alongside the families of the new recruits.
