Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurates India Golf Carnival at Royal Springs Golf Course

SRINAGAR, May 10, 2026 :- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah officially inaugurated the India Golf Carnival 2026 today by teeing off at the world-renowned Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar.

During the event, the Chief Minister highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir possesses immense potential for both golf and adventure tourism. He noted that prestigious events like the India Golf Carnival serve as an essential platform to showcase the region’s world-class sporting infrastructure to a global audience.

The tournament is being organized by Innovative Sports Leisure in close collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department to further elevate the profile of the region’s tourism sector.The Chief Minister observed that such initiatives are instrumental in strengthening the position of Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for travelers and sports enthusiasts alike.

He emphasized that the growth of golf tourism contributes significantly to the local economy and the hospitality industry. With a network of high-quality courses located in Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sidra in Jammu, the region is uniquely positioned to attract international golfers while simultaneously making the sport more popular among the local population.

The inauguration was attended by several prominent figures, including Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Tanvir Sadiq, and MLA Pirzada Farooq Ahmed Shah. Also present were Secretary of the Royal Springs Golf Course Haris Ahmad Handoo and Director of Tourism Kashmir Syed Qamar Sajjad, along with various organizers and participating golfers from across India and the Union Territory.

The event underscores a collective effort to blend professional sports with tourism promotion, ensuring that the natural beauty and sporting facilities of the region continue to gain international recognition.
