Tamil Nadu CM Vijay signs key orders for free electricity and women safety

CHENNAI, May 10, 2026:- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, following his swearing-in ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, has officially signed three major government orders to fulfill key electoral promises made by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

The ceremony, presided over by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, marked the beginning of a new administration focused on immediate public welfare measures. The first major announcement provides significant relief to domestic energy consumers, granting 200 units of free electricity per two-month cycle for households that consume up to 500 units in that period.

Prioritizing the security of women across the state, the Chief Minister also ordered the formation of the Singappenn Special Strike Force. This specialized unit will be equipped with modern facilities and sufficient personnel to ensure a rapid response to complaints regarding women’s safety.

By establishing this force, the government aims to build greater confidence and provide a secure environment for women in both urban and rural areas of Tamil Nadu.In a determined effort to eradicate drug-related crimes, the administration has moved to establish a comprehensive Anti-Narcotic Task Force.

This initiative includes the setting up of 37 dedicated police stations at the district level and an additional 28 stations across nine municipal corporations, totaling 65 specialized units statewide.

These measures reflect the government’s commitment to taking stringent action against illegal substances and ensuring a safer future for the youth of the state.
