Indian Army Illuminates Remote Ladakh Villages with Solar Energy Under Operation Sadbhavana
Ladakh, May 9, 2026 :- In a significant move to enhance the lives of residents in the far-flung Trans Singela region, the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army distributed 325 home solar light kits and installed 66 solar street lights.
This sustainable energy initiative, executed under Operation Sadbhavana, was undertaken following a request from Chering Dorjay Lakrook, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association.
The event was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the Fire and Fury Corps and drew more than 300 local beneficiaries, marking a major milestone in providing reliable power to one of the most geographically isolated areas of the Union Territory.
The local community and leaders expressed their profound gratitude to the Indian Army for its consistent outreach and commitment to the welfare of the region.
Chering Dorjay Lakrook commended the military for its unwavering dedication to the developmental needs of Ladakh, highlighting how such projects foster a deep bond between the armed forces and the resilient local population.
