Bhutanese Ambassador explores cultural and economic ties during Ladakh visit

LEH, May 9, 2026 — The Bhutanese Ambassador visited the historic Takthok Gompa near Leh, a revered monastery featuring a cave where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated.

During the visit, the Ambassador remarked on the deep spiritual heritage and the unique natural landscape of the region. Members of the Board of Directors of the India-Bhutan Foundation accompanied the delegation, expressing their appreciation for the rich history and pristine environment of Ladakh.

The visit also focused on strengthening bilateral relations through a meeting with the Chief Secretary of the Ladakh Administration. Discussions centered on identifying new opportunities for collaboration between Bhutan and Ladakh, specifically in the sectors of economy, culture, and tourism.
