Udhampur police arrest two inter-district drug peddlers with heroin at Majalta
MAJALTA, May 08 — As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended two drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of heroin during a targeted operation at Battal Naka.
While conducting routine vehicle checks, a police team intercepted a scooty traveling from the Mansar area. Upon searching the two individuals on the vehicle, officers recovered a total of 20.94 grams of heroin concealed in their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Mohsin and Mohd Raqib, both residents of Srinagar. During the search, 10.65 grams of the illegal substance were found on one suspect, while 10.29 grams were recovered from the other.
Following the discovery, the police immediately took both men into custody and seized the vehicle used in the transport of the narcotics.
A formal case has been registered at the Majalta Police Station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the contraband and determine if the duo is linked to a larger drug trafficking network.
The Udhampur Police reiterated their commitment to making the district drug-free and maintaining a strict vigil against the illegal trade of habit-forming substances.
