JKESL Udhampur Hosts Anti Drug Rally and Honors Top Students at Battal Ballian
BATTAL BALLIAN, May 07, 2026 — As part of the 100-Day Padyatra pledge for a drug-free region, the Jammu and Kashmir Ex-services League organized a comprehensive Nasha Mukt Abhiyan awareness program at Government Higher Secondary School Battal Ballian today.
Chaired by Dalbir Singh Bhatyal, Vice President of the league, the event featured an awareness rally and a collective anti-drug pledge taken by 304 students and 43 staff members.
The initiative aligns with the broader mission to eradicate substance abuse among youth and promote a disciplined, healthy lifestyle across the district.During the event, retired military officers including Som Raj Sharma and Jograj Singh Rathore, both former students of the institution, shared motivational insights and reflected on the school’s century-old legacy.
Established in 1923, the school has played a vital role in shaping generations in the Udhampur zone. The speakers emphasized the devastating impact of narcotics on society and urged the younger generation to focus on character building and national service.
The school administration, led by Kushal Kishore, welcomed the veterans and facilitated the smooth conduct of the awareness activities.A significant highlight of the program was the felicitation of academic excellence following the recent Class 10th JKBOSE results for the 2025-26 session.
Top-performing students Akanksha Thakur, Ambika Sharma, Asiya Akthar, and Shivani Devi were honored with certificates of appreciation and medals for their outstanding marks. This recognition served to encourage students to maintain high standards in both academics and extracurricular activities while staying away from social evils.
The program concluded with a mutual exchange of tokens of appreciation, where school staff presented saplings to the visiting ex-servicemen, symbolizing growth and environmental consciousness. Dalbir Singh Bhatyal reiterated the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Ex-services League to take the anti-drug campaign to every village and school in the area.
The event, supported by members of civil society and local residents, marked a successful step toward strengthening the community’s resolve against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
