Udhampur Ex-Services League Leads Drug Awareness Rally and Honors Students
MALHAR, May 05 — The Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League organized a comprehensive Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan event and awareness rally at Government High School Malhar today.
Held under the chairmanship of Dalbir Singh Bhatyal, the program aligned with the regional 100-day pledge for a drug-free state. The day began with a flag-hoisting ceremony by Head Master Sagar Chand and Dalbir Singh Bhatyal, followed by the national anthem.
Speakers including Karnail Singh, Jog Raj Singh Rathore, and Rattan Chand addressed the students, emphasizing the severe consequences of substance abuse and the importance of a disciplined lifestyle.
A significant highlight of the event was the anti-drug pledge led by Dalbir Singh Bhatyal, where 220 students and 20 staff members committed to staying away from narcotics and preventing others from using them.
Following the pledge, an awareness rally was flagged off from the school grounds, with participants marching through the local area carrying placards and chanting slogans to educate the community.
In a reciprocal gesture of appreciation, the school staff presented saplings to the league members, while Sagar Chand praised the veterans for their dedication to social welfare and student motivation.
The event also served as a platform to celebrate academic success by honoring the top performers of the 2025-26 Class 10th board examinations. Saadvi, daughter of Kuldeep Kumar, was recognized for achieving the first position, followed by Daraya Sardhalia and Sonal Sharma in second and third places respectively.
The students were presented with medals and certificates of appreciation for their hard work. The program, coordinated by teacher Shivali Koushal, concluded with a reiteration of the league’s commitment to expanding this campaign across every village in the district to safeguard the future of the youth.
