Lt Gen Girish Kalia assumes command of Spear Corps to oversee Indian Army operations
DIMAPUR, MAY 01, 2026Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, a highly experienced officer with an illustrious career in the Indian Army, has officially taken charge of the Spear Corps.
He succeeds Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, who handed over the responsibilities of the unit during a formal ceremony.
During the transition, the outgoing officer exhorted all ranks of the Spear Corps to continue their relentless efforts toward enhancing operational effectiveness and combat readiness, while strictly upholding the traditions and ethos of the Indian Army.
Following the transition, Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, extended his congratulations to Girish Kalia for taking over the role.
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief also took the opportunity to compliment Abhijit S Pendharkar for his exemplary contributions during his tenure. This change in top management marks a continuation of the commitment of the Corps to regional security and military excellence under its new commanding officer.
