Satish Sharma advocates for youth leadership to drive digital growth and a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU, MAY 01, 2026:- Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, IT, Transport, Youth Services, Sports, and Science and Technology Satish Sharma today called upon the youth to lead the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir into a progressive and prosperous region.

Addressing students at the India’s International Movement to Unite Nations conference, the Minister emphasized that the energy and discipline of the younger generation are central to the government’s vision.

He highlighted that the administration is prioritizing skill development, digital empowerment, and entrepreneurship to ensure the youth are equipped to shape the future of the region.

The Minister reaffirmed a strong commitment to achieving a Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir, identifying drug abuse as a critical threat to the aspirations of young citizens.

While noting that enforcement and rehabilitation infrastructure are being strengthened, he urged students to serve as ambassadors for a healthy lifestyle, stressing that real change begins with individual choices.

The government’s comprehensive strategy includes expanding awareness campaigns, improving access to counseling, and coordinating closely with law enforcement to dismantle drug supply chains across the territory.

In the realm of technology and infrastructure, Satish Sharma outlined a roadmap to establish a robust digital ecosystem, focusing on innovation hubs and startup incubation to foster future-ready skills in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

He also shared an ambitious vision to position Jammu and Kashmir as a premier sports destination, leveraging its unique geography for winter and adventure sports.

By developing world-class facilities and integrating rural and border areas into the sports framework, the government aims to provide a global platform for local talent while promoting health and national discipline.
