Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspects Shalina flood breach site and restoration works
SRINAGAR, MAY 01, 2026:- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Shalina near Lasjan today to personally inspect the site of a breach that occurred during the floods in September last year.
Accompanied by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi, the Chief Minister assessed the current state of the landscape and the progress of the various flood mitigation efforts currently underway at the location.
During the inspection, he conducted a thorough review of the ongoing repairs intended to stabilize the area and prevent future vulnerability.
The Chief Minister issued specific directives to the concerned departments to prioritize the strengthening of embankments along the river to avoid any recurrence of similar breaches.
He emphasized that the focus must remain on durable and long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. By calling for the expedited completion of permanent restoration works, he underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that the infrastructure is resilient enough to withstand future environmental challenges.
