Udhampur Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers and Seize Psychotropic Substances

UDHAMPUR, April 30, 2026:- Udhampur Police successfully apprehended two individuals in separate operations as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the region.

During a routine checkpoint at Tikri, a police party intercepted a suspicious man identified as Daleep Singh, a resident of Samool. Upon searching him, officers recovered 555 Alprazolam tablets for which he could not provide a valid medical prescription.

Consequently, a formal case has been registered at the Rehambal Police Station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the contraband.In a second enforcement action, a police team from the Latti Police Station intercepted Tanveer Anjum, a resident of Latti, during a separate security check.

The search led to the recovery of three strips and 48 loose capsules of Pregabalin. Following the seizure, local authorities informed the Assistant Drug Controller to initiate further legal and administrative action regarding the possession of these regulated psychotropic substances.

These back-to-back arrests highlight the intensified efforts of the Udhampur Police to curb the illegal trade of pharmaceutical drugs and protect the local youth from the dangers of substance addiction.
