CM Omar Abdullah Invites Top Educational Institutions to Establish Private Universities in Jammu and Kashmir
BENGALURU, APRIL 26: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a high-level interaction with education sector representatives in Bengaluru today to promote investment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir’s higher education landscape.
Highlighting the landmark J&K Private University Act of 2026, which was recently passed by the Legislative Assembly and received the Lieutenant Governor’s assent, the Chief Minister invited reputed institutions to set up campuses in the region.
He was accompanied by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Tanvir Sadiq, as he underscored the administration’s goal to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a vibrant and globally competitive academic hub.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister emphasized that the new legislative framework is designed to create a modern and inclusive education ecosystem. He assured potential investors of a transparent, enabling, and investor-friendly environment tailored to facilitate quality educational ventures.
By inviting leading academic bodies to partner in this growth, the government aims to attract diverse students, scholars, and research collaborations.
Omar Abdullah reiterated that this initiative marks a significant shift in the region’s history, focusing on providing high-quality local alternatives and fostering an atmosphere of excellence in higher learning.
