BRO Reopens Strategic Lachulung La Pass Amid Extreme Weather on Leh-Manali Highway

LEH April 21,2026 :- Personnel from Project Himank, under the Border Road Organization (BRO), have successfully reopened the Lachulung La pass at an altitude of 16,616 feet, marking a critical milestone in the restoration of the Leh–Manali National Highway (NH-03).

Despite facing sub-zero temperatures and the unforgiving terrain of the high-altitude Himalayas, the clearing teams maintained a relentless pace to overcome massive snow accumulation.

This achievement restores a vital section of the Leh–Manali axis, which is essential for both military logistics and local connectivity.

Following the successful opening of Lachulung La, BRO teams are now shifting their momentum toward Nakee La, the final major stretch required to establish full connectivity along this strategic route.
