GARHWAL, April 19, 2026:-Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C Central Command, conducted an extensive visit to the forward areas of the Garhwal region to reinforce the Indian Army’s deep-rooted connection with its soldiers, local communities, and veterans.

During the visit, the GOC interacted with participants of the ‘Yarns of Yore’ initiative, celebrating the craftsmanship of women artisans who are preserving the traditional weaving heritage of the Himalayas.

He emphasized that such initiatives are instrumental in promoting self-reliance and creating sustainable livelihoods for residents in remote border areas, effectively bridging the gap between frontier security and community development.

The engagement also included a dedicated session with local veterans, where Lieutenant General Sengupta discussed regional welfare and security matters to ensure the continued well-being of the retired military fraternity.

By focusing on mutual trust and collaboration, the GOC highlighted that the Central Command’s mission extends beyond safeguarding the nation’s borders to include the empowerment of the people who live alongside them.

This visit underscores the Army’s commitment to honoring its legacy while fostering a secure and prosperous environment through a strong human connection in the sensitive Garhwal sector.
