BATOTE, APRIL 16, 2026 — Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Sargun Shukla, convened an extensive joint crime and security review meeting today at the Range Police Headquarters in Batote to set strategic goals for the year.
The session featured detailed presentations from the Senior Superintendents of Police for Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar, focusing on the status of under-investigation cases and the implementation of the 2026 operational targets.
The DIG issued strict instructions to ensure the timely disposal of cases based on merit and within prescribed timelines, with a specific emphasis on expediting investigations and effective prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act to ensure high conviction rates.
The meeting also addressed the need for robust preventive measures against organized crime networks, including drug traffickers, bovine smuggling syndicates, and those involved in crimes against women and children.
DIG Shukla directed officers to strengthen intelligence-gathering mechanisms and maintain close synergy with the Armed Forces and other security agencies to bolster regional security management.
A central theme of the discussion was the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, where the DIG emphasized aggressive enforcement measures such as the attachment of properties identified as proceeds of crime and the dismantling of drug peddling networks.
The review concluded with directives to intensify area domination, night patrolling, and the mandatory use of forensic services and digital tools like CCTNS and e-Sakshya to foster community trust and maintain lasting peace.
