Batala Police Bust Cross-Border Racket: 6.5 Kg Heroin and Illegal Weapons Seized
BATALA/PUNJAB April 11, 2026 :- In a significant crackdown on transnational crime, the Batala Police have successfully dismantled a major cross-border drug and illegal arms syndicate, apprehending two suspects in the process.
The operation led to the recovery of a substantial haul, including 6.5 kg of Heroin, a .30 caliber pistol accompanied by six live cartridges, and ₹1 lakh in drug proceeds. This breakthrough reveals a dangerous and sophisticated nexus between extortionists, narcotics traffickers, and illegal weapons networks operating across the border to destabilize the region.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized weaponry was intended for distribution to operatives within the criminal network to facilitate further illegal activities. Following the arrests, an FIR has been officially registered at Police Station Civil Lines, Batala.
Law enforcement agencies are now conducting an intensive follow-up investigation to map out both forward and backward linkages, aiming to identify the masterminds and completely dismantle the supply chain.
Reaffirming their stance, the Punjab Police stated they remain committed to a zero-tolerance policy regarding the smuggling of narcotics and illegal firearms.
