Samba Fertilizer Control Order Enforcement: Six Dealers Issued Notices During Intensive Inspection Drive

SAMBA, April 03, 2026 — In a major move to safeguard farmer interests and ensure the transparent distribution of agricultural inputs, the Department of Agriculture conducted an intensive enforcement drive across District Samba today.

Led by Director Law Enforcement Balbir Singh, a high-level team—including Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu Sanjay Anand and other senior officials—carried out surprise inspections at various fertilizer dealerships to verify compliance with the Fertilizer Control Order.

The teams meticulously cross-referenced physical inventory with Point of Sale (POS) data, stock registers, and sale records to identify any instances of hoarding, unauthorized diversion, or black marketing.

As a result of these stringent checks, official notices were issued to six dealers in Samba where significant discrepancies and regulatory violations were observed.

This crackdown in Samba follows a broader regional sweep where similar enforcement actions resulted in notices being served to four dealers in Udhampur, two in Doda, four in Rajouri, and six in Kathua. Director Balbir Singh issued a stern warning that the department maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any practices that exploit farmers or disrupt the supply chain.

The erring dealers have been granted a 48-hour window to provide a formal explanation, failing which they face severe penalties, including the permanent cancellation of their licenses.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment, Joint Director Sanjay Anand emphasized that regular monitoring and surprise inspections will be intensified across all districts to ensure that genuine farmers receive timely access to quality fertilizers without administrative hurdles.
