J&K Assembly: Minister Confirms Stable Fuel Supplies and Major Sports Infrastructure Boost

JAMMU, APRIL 02: During the ongoing 2026 Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Minister for Food Supplies, Consumer Affairs, and Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, addressed critical issues ranging from energy security to regional athletic development.

Responding to concerns raised by legislator M.Y. Tarigami during Zero Hour, the Minister assured the public that Jammu and Kashmir maintains an adequate supply of LPG and petroleum products, explicitly stating there is no need for panic booking.

Turning to regional development, Sharma informed the house that Rs 136.67 lakh has been invested over the last three years to upgrade sports infrastructure within the Billawar constituency.

The Minister highlighted a series of targeted interventions in Billawar, including the distribution of 149 sports kits to local schools and the consistent execution of talent hunt programs.

Significant projects currently underway include the development of a synthetic volleyball court at HSS Dhar Dugnoo and the construction of a playfield at Ridi, Panchayat Malti, which is being fast-tracked on a “war footing.” With Rs 35 lakh recently approved under CAPEX for a multi-purpose playfield in Billawar, Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a “huge fillip” to sports activities in rural and border areas, ensuring that youth have the facilities necessary to excel in competitive arenas.
