CBI Court Sentences Former Bank of India Manager and Accomplice to 7 Years Rigorous Imprisonment in Bhopal Fraud Case

Bhopal April 02, 2026 :-In a significant ruling against financial misconduct, the Special CBI Court in Bhopal has sentenced Piyush Chaturvedi, the former Senior Branch Manager of Bank of India’s Misrod Branch, and a private individual, Mohan Singh Solanki, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.

The conviction, handed down on April 1, 2026, also imposes a total fine of ₹60,000 on the duo for their involvement in a high-profile bank fraud case that dates back to 2016.The legal proceedings originated from a formal complaint filed by the Deputy Zonal Manager of Bank of India, Bhopal, on January 25, 2016.

The investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed that Chaturvedi, acting in his official capacity, dishonestly sanctioned a term loan amounting to ₹27,00,000 in the name of a firm called M/s Vision Computer.

However, instead of the funds reaching the intended recipient, Chaturvedi conspired with Mohan Singh Solanki to divert the entire loan amount into the account of M/s Ajab Kumar Industries, a firm owned by Solanki’s wife, Krishna Bai Solanki.

By misappropriating the sanctioned funds, the accused caused a direct wrongful loss to the bank while securing an equivalent wrongful gain for themselves.

Following a comprehensive investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet detailing the fraudulent trail and the conspiracy between the bank official and the private party.

After a thorough trial, the Honorable Court found both individuals guilty of the charges, leading to the current sentence of rigorous imprisonment and financial penalties.
