Indian Coast Guard Inducts ICGS Rajdoot into Andaman and Nicobar Command to Bolster Maritime Security

SRI VIJAYA PURAM | April 02, 2026 — In a move to significantly strengthen India’s maritime surveillance and rapid response capabilities, the Indian Coast Guard ship ICGS Rajdoot was formally inducted into the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) at Sri Vijaya Puram on April 1, 2026.

This indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) marks a vital addition to the region’s naval assets, reflecting the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defense manufacturing and the strategic importance of the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago.

The induction of ICGS Rajdoot is set to provide a major fillip to coastal security and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance within the ANC Area of Responsibility (AoR).

Equipped for high-speed operations, the vessel is designed to handle a wide array of critical tasks, including maritime law enforcement, search and rescue (SAR) missions, and urgent medical evacuations.

By enhancing the command’s ability to provide a rapid response to maritime contingencies, the vessel ensures a more secure and monitored environment across the vital shipping lanes and territorial waters of the Bay of Bengal.
