JKBOSE Opens Migration Window for CBSE and National Board Students for 2025–26 Session
JAMMU, April 1, 2026 — In a major move to streamline student mobility, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially opened the doors for students from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other government-recognized boards nationwide to seek admission in JKBOSE-affiliated institutions for the 2025–26 academic session.
According to an official notification, students who have passed or appeared in Class 9th, 10th, or 11th from other recognized boards are now eligible for provisional migration into Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th respectively.
This provisional admission mirrors the process currently in place for regular JKBOSE candidates, providing a seamless transition for students moving into the UT’s educational system.
The migration process remains subject to strict verification by the concerned Registration Sections and Sub/Branch offices of the Board.
To regularize their status, students must produce valid pass certificates and all necessary documentation from their previous boards for eligibility determination and fee processing.
JKBOSE has cautioned that failure to meet these requirements or provide the requisite documents will result in the immediate cancellation of the provisional admission.
Furthermore, heads of institutions are mandated to collect an formal undertaking from all migrating students, ensuring they are aware that their admission is contingent upon their qualification results and document verification.
This policy shift follows a direct intervention by the Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health, and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo.
During a high-level review meeting held on March 30, 2026, the Minister issued clear instructions to board authorities to simplify and expedite the migration process for students coming from outside the JKBOSE system.
To accommodate interested applicants, the Board has confirmed that the window for admissions under the eligibility-cum-migration category will remain open until May 21, 2026, allowing ample time for students to complete the necessary formalities for the upcoming academic year.
