DC Udhampur Minga Sherpa Leads Public Grievance Redressal Camp in Remote Basantgarh

UDHAMPUR, April 1, 2026 — In a major push to bring governance directly to the doorsteps of rural residents, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, chaired a comprehensive public outreach-cum-grievance redressal camp in the far-flung Basantgarh area today.

The event saw a large turnout of local citizens and former PRI members who raised critical concerns regarding infrastructure and public services, including the need for additional staff in schools, road repairs, improved mobile connectivity, and the development of the Basantgarh Fort to boost local tourism.

Accompanied by SDM Wahid-ul-Rehman and ACD Om Parkash, the DC issued immediate on-the-spot directions to various departments to resolve genuine grievances, ensuring that several long-standing issues were settled through effective inter-departmental coordination.

Beyond addressing complaints, the outreach camp served as a platform for socio-economic empowerment. District officers sensitized the public on key flagship initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the State Marriage Assistance Scheme, urging villagers to maximize the benefits of these welfare programs.

Highlighting local potential, DC Minga Sherpa also visited the innovative Kiwi and Apple orchards of local farmer Sanjay Seyalia, established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme.

The DC lauded the farmer’s efforts in branding “Kiwi Tea” and developing a nursery for red kiwi varieties, citing it as a prime example of the income-generating opportunities the administration seeks to promote.

Concluding the camp, the DC reiterated that such initiatives are vital for bridging the gap between the administration and the public, fostering an environment of transparency and rapid rural development.
