Udhampur Police Flush Out Internal Narcotics Link: Rogue Constable Terminated Under Zero-Tolerance Policy

UDHAMPUR April 1, 2026 — In a major internal crackdown on the drug trade, SSP Udhampur has formally dismissed Constable Arjun Sharma from the force following his arrest in a high-profile heroin recovery case.

The dismissal follows a comprehensive departmental probe linked to FIR No. 170/2025 at Police Station Rehmbal, which confirmed that the officer was intercepted at a Tikri checkpoint with forensic-verified narcotics in his possession.

Authorities labeled the breach of duty as a grave act of misconduct that tarnished the reputation of the department. After a show-cause notice failed to elicit a satisfactory defense, the Constable was stripped of his position under Rule 359 of the J&K Police Rules.

This decisive administrative action underscores the district police’s rigid commitment to purging its own ranks of criminal elements and reinforces a “zero-tolerance” stance against the narcotics menace in the region.
