Lt Gen Sandeep Jain Takes Helm as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command
PUNE, April 1, 2026 — Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain, AVSM, SM, officially took over the prestigious appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Southern Command today.
Marking the commencement of his leadership, the General Officer visited the Southern Command War Memorial at Pune Military Station to conduct a solemn wreath-laying ceremony.
In a poignant tribute to the nation’s “Bravehearts,” he honored the memory of fallen soldiers who served with distinction.
Following the memorial service, Lt Gen Jain reviewed a ceremonial Guard of Honour, signifying his formal assumption of command over the Indian Army’s oldest and largest geographical formation.
