Ramban Police Book Notorious Bovine Smuggler Under PSA to Curb Organized Crime
RAMBAN, April 01, 2026 — In a major crackdown on organized crime and efforts to maintain public order, the District Police Ramban has booked a habitual offender and notorious bovine smuggler under the stringent Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
The accused, identified as Aamir Mir, son of Bahar Mir and a resident of Bankoot, Banihal, was detained following an order issued by the District Magistrate Ramban (Order No. 03/PSA/2026).
This decisive legal action follows a pattern of criminal activity by the accused, who has been linked to at least eight separate FIRs registered across various police stations—including Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban, Jhajjar Kotli, Nagrota, and Udhampur—between 2022 and 2025.
The charges against Mir involve repeated violations of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, illegal transportation of animals, and various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the execution of the detention order, the accused was officially lodged at the District Jail Bhaderwah on March 31, 2026.
This move underscores the Ramban Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and utilizing effective legal frameworks to foil intentional attempts to disrupt peace and security within the district.
