Lt Gen VMB Krishnan Takes Charge as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command

KOLKATA, April 1, 2026 — Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, officially assumed the prestigious appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command today.

Upon his arrival at the Eastern Command headquarters, the General Officer began his tenure with a solemn tribute to the fallen heroes at the Eastern Command War Memorial in Kolkata Military Station.

During the ceremony, he laid a wreath in honor of the “Bravehearts” who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Following the memorial service, Lt Gen Krishnan reviewed an impressive Guard of Honour, marking the formal commencement of his leadership over one of the Indian Army’s most strategically significant commands.
