Ganderbal Encounter: Terrorist Eliminated in Ongoing Operation Arhama by Security Forces
SRINAGAR, April 1, 2026 — An unidentified terrorist was neutralized by security forces on Wednesday morning during a fierce gunbattle in the Arhama forest area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
According to an official statement from the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, the engagement—dubbed Operation Arhama—intensified overnight following tactical reorganization of the security cordon amid intermittent firing.
The Army confirmed that troops provided a calibrated response to the provocation, resulting in the elimination of one Terrorist as the operation continues to flush out any remaining threats in the dense woodland.
The encounter began on Tuesday evening after a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
While initial contact was established before dusk, the gunfight was temporarily suspended due to poor visibility and the challenging terrain of the forest. Operations resumed with full scale at the first light of Wednesday morning.
While one terrorist has been confirmed dead, the area remains under a strict security lockdown as search teams comb the vicinity for further leads. Additional details are awaited as the situation develops.
