Ganderbal CASO: Gunshots Fired During Search Operation in Ahrama Forest

GANDERBAL, March 31, 2026 — Panic gripped the Ahrama forest area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday evening after gunshots were heard during an ongoing Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).

Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the dense woods, a joint team comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a targeted sweep of the region.

As the security forces tightened the perimeter within the forest, a brief exchange of fire occurred, prompting authorities to immediately rush reinforcements to the site to prevent any escape.

According to official sources, at least two terrorists are believed to be trapped within the cordoned zone. Security measures have been intensified across the district as the operation continues into the night, and further details regarding the engagement are currently awaited.
