LG Manoj Sinha Advocates for Lord Mahavira’s Teachings of Peace and Ahimsa in Jammu
JAMMU, MARCH 31: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak celebrations in Jammu today, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira.
Organized by the S.S. Jain Sabha, the event served as a platform for the Lieutenant Governor to emphasize the contemporary relevance of Jain philosophy, specifically the principles of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Anekantavada (multi-dimensional reality).
Addressing the gathering, he noted that the modern world urgently requires a foundation of compassion, peace, and universal brotherhood to navigate current global challenges.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a resolute nation, demonstrating to the world that true peace is born from unwavering courage rather than weakness.
He remarked that this is an era for building bridges instead of battlefields, suggesting that humanity must draw vital lessons from Lord Mahavira’s teachings to foster enduring harmony amid global strife.
According to the Lieutenant Governor, progress is deeply rooted in individual responsibility and the ability to bridge societal divides through a better understanding of diverse cultures and experiences.
Emphasizing personal transformation, the Lieutenant Governor observed that Lord Mahavira’s focus on introspection, discipline, and right conduct can significantly elevate society.
He urged citizens to internalize values such as restraint, austerity, and truth to contribute meaningfully to nation-building, asserting that the impact of a nation depends entirely on the character of its people.
He specifically called upon the youth to integrate non-violence into their mindsets and rethink their relationship with nature, describing Ahimsa as a sophisticated environmental strategy rather than just an ethical code.
Discussing the concept of Anekantavada, the Lieutenant Governor explained how it teaches intellectual humility by affirming that truth is multifaceted and cannot be captured by a single viewpoint. He warned against the modern tendency to mistake personal opinions for absolute truths, which erodes social balance.
He concluded by describing Lord Mahavira’s legacy as a “refined guidebook” for navigating life’s complexities, noting that those who dwell in restraint and austerity earn the highest respect.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated achievers from various fields in the presence of Suneel Jain, President of S.S. Jain Sabha, and other prominent civil and police administration officials.
