CM Omar Abdullah Vows to Fill 25,000 Government Vacancies in 2026 with Focus on Transparency
Jammu March 31, 2026 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reaffirmed his government’s steadfast commitment to tackling the unemployment crisis in Jammu and Kashmir, announcing a resolute plan to fill 25,000 vacant posts within the current year.
Responding to concerns raised by Pulwama MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister stated that the administration is determined to complete this massive recruitment drive in 2026.
He noted that the issue has been a central theme of discussions throughout the ongoing session, spanning debates on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, the budget, and various department grants, signaling that job creation remains a top priority for the new government. While promising a time-bound recruitment process, the Chief Minister balanced his ambitious target with a cautionary note on procedural integrity.
He explained that “time-bound” does not equate to a rushed process that could leave selection lists vulnerable to legal challenges. Drawing on past experiences where recruitments were stalled in courts for years—often leaving candidates overage and ineligible—Abdullah emphasized that the current drive will prioritize transparency and fairness to prevent future litigation.
By maintaining this equilibrium between speed and legal robustness, the Chief Minister aims to ensure that the 25,000 opportunities reach deserving youth without the shadow of administrative or judicial delays.
