Indian Army Southern Command Bolsters National Security Through Military-Civil Fusion Abhiyan

PUNE, March 28, 2026 — In a significant move to fortify India’s integrated national preparedness, the Indian Army’s Southern Command recently concluded a comprehensive Military-Civil Fusion (MCF) Abhiyan.

This wide-ranging initiative spanned the Command’s entire Area of Responsibility, successfully bridging the gap between the Armed Forces, civil administration, security agencies, academia, and private industry.

By fostering a “Whole-of-Nation” approach, the Abhiyan aimed to create a seamless synergy between military strategy and civil resources to address modern security complexities.

The campaign featured a series of high-impact engagements across key strategic hubs, including Pune, Bhopal, Belagavi, Babina, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer.

A central pillar of the initiative was a high-level Table Top Exercise (TTX) held in Pune, presided over by Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command. This exercise specifically targeted the assessment of emerging multi-domain threats within the hinterland, ensuring that internal security remains robust against evolving unconventional challenges.

The Pune-based exercise saw active participation from senior officials of the Government of Maharashtra, Divisional Railway Managers from multiple zones, and top-tier representatives from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and various law enforcement agencies.

This collaborative environment facilitated critical discussions on institutional convergence and collective readiness. By reinforcing coordination between these diverse sectors, the MCF Abhiyan has significantly enhanced the nation’s ability to respond to multi-dimensional security threats with a unified and agile front.
