Amritsar | March 27, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against organized crime and anti-national activities, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit of Amritsar has successfully dismantled a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module.

During a high-stakes operation, security forces apprehended two accused individuals and recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including 10 sophisticated foreign-made pistols along with their respective magazines.

This successful seizure marks a critical blow to the supply lines of illegal firearms entering the state, further bolstering the safety and security of the region.Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were operating at the behest of a foreign-based gangster in close coordination with Pakistan-based smugglers.

The module was reportedly facilitating the clandestine movement of illegal arms into India, with the intended goal of distributing the consignment to various criminal elements across Punjab.

Following the operation, an FIR has been registered at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.

The Punjab Police is currently conducting a detailed follow-up investigation to establish both forward and backward linkages, aiming to identify the end-recipients and completely dismantle the broader smuggling network.

This operation reaffirms the department’s unwavering commitment to its zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms trafficking and organized crime, ensuring a secure environment for all citizens.
