J&K Assembly Passes Key Appropriation Bills to Authorize UT Spending for 2026-27
Jammu, Mar 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly achieved a significant legislative milestone during its ongoing Budget Session today by passing three critical Appropriation Bills.
These bills, moved for consideration and passage by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, are essential legal instruments that authorize the government to withdraw and utilize funds from the Consolidated Fund of the Union Territory.
The approval of these measures ensures the seamless continuity of public services and the implementation of developmental projects across the region, providing the necessary legal framework for the government’s fiscal operations.
The passed legislation includes L.A. Bill No. 04 of 2026 and L.A. Bill No. 06 of 2026, which authorize the payment and appropriation of supplementary sums required for various services during the current financial year, 2025–2026.
Additionally, the House passed L.A. Bill No. 05 of 2026, a pivotal document that sets the financial roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year, 2026–2027.
By securing the Assembly’s mandate for these expenditures, the government has cleared the path for sustained administrative functioning and localized governance initiatives for the year ahead.
