DC Srinagar Handover Nikshay Mitra Financial Aid for Nutritional Support to TB Patients

SRINAGAR March 25, 2026:- In a significant move to bolster the “100-Day TB Mukt Bharat” special campaign, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Red Cross Society, handed over a cheque of ₹2.5 lakh to the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) today.

This financial assistance is specifically earmarked to provide additional nutritional support to Tuberculosis patients, known as Nikshay Mitras, under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The event was attended by senior health and administrative officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tahir Sajad, and District TB Officer Dr. Abdul Rouf, highlighting the coordinated effort to eliminate the disease from the district.

During the ceremony, DC Akshay Labroo underscored that adequate nutrition is a critical component for the effective treatment and recovery of TB patients. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the District Administration’s holistic approach to healthcare, ensuring that patients receive more than just medical intervention.

The DC urged all health officials to work with renewed dedication and synergy to strengthen TB care services and improve overall treatment outcomes across Srinagar.

This localized financial support follows a previous contribution of ₹2.31 lakh last year, demonstrating a consistent commitment to the welfare of affected individuals. It is important to note that this district-level assistance is provided in addition to the monthly stipend of ₹1,000 granted to every TB patient by the Central TB Division throughout their treatment period.

The District Tuberculosis Officer expressed his gratitude for the administration’s continued support, noting that such financial infusions are vital for achieving higher treatment success rates.

By combining central subsidies with local administrative aid, Srinagar aims to create a robust safety net for patients, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their journey toward becoming TB-free.
