Udhampur Police Intensify Anti-Drug Drive: Three Separate Operations Lead to Arrest of Hardcore Peddlers and Heroin Seizure

UDHAMPUR | March 25, 2026In a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police have successfully apprehended three hardcore drug peddlers and recovered significant quantities of heroin in three distinct operations across the district.

The first breakthrough occurred at the Flata Naka on the National Highway, where a team from Police Station Rehambal intercepted a Kashmir-bound vehicle.

During a search of the driver, identified as Mohammad Rustum Shah of Baramulla, officers recovered 8.98 grams of heroin. A formal case under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Rehambal as investigators work to trace the supply chain of the seized contraband.

The offensive continued in the Tikri area, where a police party intercepted another vehicle and apprehended two individuals, Sunil Sharma and Mohan Lal, both residents of Udhampur district.

A search of the duo led to the recovery of 5.44 grams of heroin. Simultaneously, a third operation was executed by the Battalbalian Police Post during a routine patrol of the local Industrial Area.

Officers intercepted Arun Singh, a resident of Shiv Nagar, and found 2.98 grams of heroin in his possession. Following these successful interceptions, FIRs have been lodged at the respective police stations, and detailed investigations are underway to dismantle the local distribution networks.

These back-to-back arrests underscore the unwavering commitment of the Udhampur Police to eradicate drug trafficking and protect the youth from the menace of addiction.

Authorities have reiterated that strict vigil is being maintained at all entry and exit points of the district, with intensified patrolling in industrial and sensitive zones.

By targeting both transit routes and local peddlers, the police aim to create a strong deterrent against organized drug syndicates operating within the Union Territory.
