JSK Range DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma Inspects Kathua Border Security and Alerts VDG Members

Kathua March 24, 2026 — In a high-level security review aimed at fortifying the border grid, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, conducted an extensive tour of the sensitive border areas in District Kathua.

Accompanied by several senior police officers, the IPS officer performed a comprehensive on-ground inspection of the security infrastructure and surveillance mechanisms currently in place along the International Border.

The visit underscores the ongoing efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintain a robust defense posture against cross-border threats and infiltration attempts.

During the visit, Shiv Kumar Sharma held crucial interactive sessions with on-duty police personnel and members of the Village Defence Guards (VDG). He engaged in detailed discussions regarding various security parameters, emphasizing the critical role that local volunteers play in the tiered security architecture of border villages.

The DIG scrutinized the operational readiness of border checkpoints (Nakas) and directed all officers and jawans to maintain an unwavering professional attitude while executing their duties. He stressed that the prevailing security scenario demands constant vigilance and a proactive approach to neutralize any suspicious activity.

Issuing a stern set of instructions, the DIG urged the deployed force to remain in a state of high alert, particularly during night hours and at vulnerable transit points. He reminded the personnel of the gravity of their responsibilities, noting that their alertness is the first line of defense for the safety of the civilian population.

By reinforcing the deployment and ensuring seamless coordination between the police and VDGs, the JSK Range administration aims to create a secure environment and deter any attempts by anti-national elements to disrupt the peace in the Kathua border belt.
