J&K Launches Mega Aadhaar MBU Drive 2.0 to Update Biometrics for 2 Lakh Students
JAMMU, March 23, 2026 — The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), in collaboration with the J&K Information Technology Department and Project Samagra Shiksha, has officially kicked off the Mega Aadhaar Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) Drive 2.0 across the Union Territory.
The initiative commenced today for schools located in the winter zone, while schools in summer zones are scheduled to begin their camps on April 1, 2026. This large-scale mission aims to reach 2,382 identified schools, providing on-premises biometric services to more than 2 lakh students.
The move follows a successful first phase held in late 2025, which covered 1.5 lakh students, but left approximately 3.5 lakh children still in need of mandatory updates, prompting this continued “mission mode” intervention.
This streamlined approach is powered by the technological integration of UIDAI with the UDISE+ application, allowing authorities to identify students due for updates with real-time accuracy. Officials emphasize that maintaining updated biometrics is vital for students to access government scholarships, welfare schemes, and seamless authentication for major national entrance exams like NEET, JEE, and CUET.
Parents and guardians are strongly urged to coordinate with school authorities to confirm scheduled camp dates and to ensure that school records perfectly match Aadhaar data to prevent any future authentication discrepancies.
