Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai Takes Charge as Colonel of Kumaon and Naga Regiments

NEW DELHI, March 23, 2026 — In a significant transition of military leadership, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), has officially assumed the prestigious appointment of Colonel of the Kumaon Regiment, the Naga Regiment, and the Kumaon Scouts.

He succeeds Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, the outgoing General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command. This appointment is deeply rooted in Indian Army tradition, representing a vital link of mentorship and leadership between the top brass and the frontline troops.
