Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg Assures Sufficient Fuel and LPG Stocks; Updates on Students in Iran

SRINAGAR, March 23, 2026 – Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, has officially moved to quell public anxiety regarding essential supplies, asserting that there is no shortage of fuel or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) across the Valley.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar today, the Divisional Commissioner confirmed that the domestic LPG supply is transitioning smoothly with a dynamic stock position currently maintained for the next 10 to 15 days.

He emphasized that the situation is being subjected to rigorous, multi-level monitoring at both divisional and district tiers to ensure that no disruptions occur in the transition of these vital commodities to the general public.

In addition to cooking gas, Garg highlighted that the supplies of petrol and diesel remain stable throughout the region. To maintain this stability, district-level committees have been tasked with the close oversight of oil marketing companies to strictly prevent any instances of hoarding, black marketing, or arbitrary overpricing.

He further noted that the Food and Civil Supplies Department is generating centralized daily reports, which are being reviewed in real-time by active control rooms.

Addressing specific complaints regarding localized delays in LPG deliveries, the Divisional Commissioner stated that Deputy Commissioners are resolving these issues on a case-to-case basis to ensure timely door-to-door distribution, while simultaneously urging citizens to disregard unverified rumors.

Shifting focus to humanitarian concerns, the Divisional Commissioner also provided a crucial update regarding students from Jammu and Kashmir currently stranded in Iran. He assured the public that both the Government of India and the Union Territory administration are engaged in sustained, high-level efforts to facilitate their safe and immediate return.

Garg mentioned that the administration is maintaining constant communication with the affected families, sharing every update received from the central government.

Reaching out with a message of hope, he noted that the Chief Minister has personally assured all possible support, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring that all students are evacuated safely as the diplomatic situation evolves.
