Alongside the prison term, the court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the convict. The verdict concludes a long-standing legal battle that began in 2015 when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a probe into allegations of corruption involving the public servant. The case dates back to July 4, 2015, when the CBI registered an FIR against Ahmad following a complaint from a railway contractor.
According to the investigation, the accused had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 30,000 from the contractor. In exchange for this bribe, Ahmad allegedly promised to reduce penalties that had been imposed on the contractor for unsatisfactory performance regarding the loading and unloading of Guards Line Boxes in trains.
