Veterans’ Meet in Champhai Reaffirms ‘Atoot Bandhan’ with Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris

CHAMPHAI, March 21, 2026 — In a significant step toward honoring the legacy of India’s bravehearts, the Champhai District Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Board, in collaboration with the Assam Regimental Centre and the Territorial Army, organized a dedicated Veterans’ Meet in Mizoram.

The event, chaired by Lt Col Clement Lalhmingthanga (Retired), Chairman of the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen League (MESL) and MLA for Champhai South, brought together over thirty representatives from the district and its remote villages.

The gathering served as a vital platform for the families of deceased ex-servicemen to connect with military authorities and address long-standing grievances. The meet was marked by immediate, tangible support for the families of the fallen, with four Veer Naris receiving on-the-spot assistance for critical administrative issues.

This included the correction of complex pension-related documents and the processing of renewal applications for Canteen Stores Department (CSD) cards. By providing these essential services at the doorstep of the veterans’ community, the organizers reaffirmed the “Atoot Bandhan”—the unbreakable bond—between the nation and its soldiers.

The initiative underscored a powerful message: the contributions of the armed forces are never forgotten, and the commitment to their welfare remains a top priority for both the military and the state.
