Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Advocates for Urban Heritage and Water Sustainability at Jammu Book Launch

JAMMU, MARCH 20, 2026: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, presided over the official launch of the coffee table book “Best of My City” today in Jammu. Organized by Amar Ujala, the high-profile event drew a diverse gathering of prominent citizens, government officials, and industry stakeholders.

During the ceremony, the Minister lauded the publication as a vital medium for documenting the cultural richness, historical legacy, and developmental evolution of urban centers. He specifically commended the editorial team for capturing the spirit and aspirations of the people through a visually compelling narrative that showcases the unique diversity of city life.

While celebrating the creative achievement, Minister Rana transitioned to a critical discussion on pressing environmental challenges, particularly the alarming decline in regional groundwater levels. He issued an urgent call for collective action toward sustainable resource management, emphasizing the necessity of reviving traditional water systems.

The Minister highlighted the government’s focus on the restoration and recharging of hand pumps, bore wells, and other indigenous water sources to ensure long-term security.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led administration, he stressed that rigorous monitoring and efficient infrastructure implementation remain the cornerstones of enhancing service delivery and building a resilient future for the next generation.
