Kathua DC Confirms Stable LPG Supply; Warns Against Hoarding and Panic Booking
KATHUA, March 20, 2026 – Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Gas Agencies today to review the availability and distribution of domestic LPG across the district.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner dismissed rumors of a shortage, reassuring the public that there is an ample stock of LPG to meet consumer demand. He emphasized that the supply chain is functioning smoothly and urged citizens to remain calm, stating there is absolutely no need for panic or over-purchasing.
To maintain transparency and prevent illegal trade, the DC announced that specialized teams have been formed to monitor distribution and strictly curb any instances of hoarding or black marketing.
He issued a stern warning that any distributor or individual found violating supply norms would face immediate and severe legal action.
Furthermore, the administration has streamlined the LPG refill booking cycle to regulate supply: consumers in urban areas are eligible for their next booking after 25 days, while the limit for rural areas is set at 45 days.
Addressing technical concerns, Deputy Commissioner Sharma confirmed that previous issues regarding OTP (One-Time Password) verification have been fully resolved, ensuring a seamless digital transaction process for consumers.
DC requested that the public adhere to the designated booking schedule and avoid unnecessary crowding at distribution centers. This regulatory framework is intended to ensure that every household receives a fair and timely supply of essential cooking fuel.
