Eid-ul-Fitr 2026: India to Celebrate Festival on March 21 as Moon Not Sighted
NEW DELHI March 19,2026 :-The Markazi Royat-e-Hilal Committee of Jama Masjid Delhi has officially announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The decision follows the meeting of the moon-sighting committee on Thursday evening, March 19, 2026, where it was confirmed that the crescent moon (Hilal) for the month of Shawwal was not sighted in Delhi or any other part of the region.
According to a formal statement issued by Syed Shaban Bukhari, the Naib Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, since the moon was not visible today, the holy month of Ramadan will complete its 30-day cycle on Friday.
Consequently, the first day of Shawwal, marking the commencement of Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, will fall on March 21. This announcement brings to an end the anticipation of millions of devotees, confirming that Friday will be the final day of fasting for this year.
