Legacy of Wali Mohammad Itoo Lives On: Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Calls for Unity and Peace in Kulgam

KULGAM, March 18, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary addressed a massive gathering in DH Pora today, marking the 32nd death anniversary of veteran leader Wali Mohammad Itoo. Despite the challenging weather conditions, including rain and cold, the Deputy CM noted that the overwhelming public turnout was a testament to the enduring love and respect for the late leader’s vision.

Accompanied by senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leadership, Choudhary emphasized that the political legacy of Itoo is being vibrantly carried forward by his daughter, Sakina Itoo, whom he praised for her bravery and dedication to fulfilling the unfulfilled dreams of her father and the aspirations of the local populace.

During his address, the Deputy Chief Minister pivoted to the broader geopolitical climate, asserting that “war is not a solution” to the turmoil currently witnessed across the globe.

Drawing inspiration from the diplomatic philosophies of leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he stressed that dialogue, love, and mutual understanding are the only viable paths forward.

He urged the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to stand firmly behind the leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, highlighting that a unified public front is essential for strengthening the party and ensuring regional stability.On the administrative front, the Deputy CM addressed local grievances, specifically promising to look into reports of pending salaries across various departments to ensure all workers receive their rightful dues.

He also expressed strong faith in the judiciary, appreciating recent court decisions as a sign that justice continues to prevail.

Concluding his visit on a note of communal harmony, Choudhary extended warm greetings for the upcoming festivals of Eid and Navratri, celebrating the unique cultural fabric of the region where diverse communities share in each other’s joy.
