Northern Railway Vigilance: Mobile Thieves Caught and Stolen Phone Recovered in Jammu Division
JAMMU | March 17, 2026 — Demonstrating a high level of alertness and commitment to passenger safety, the ticket checking staff of Northern Railway’s Jammu Division successfully apprehended two mobile thieves and recovered a lost device in two separate incidents today.
Acting under the strategic directives of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Uchit Singhal, railway personnel proved that their roles extend far beyond revenue collection, actively ensuring a secure environment for travelers.
The first incident occurred aboard the Dhauladhar Express (Train No. 14035) near Narwana station. Sandeep Kumar, a ticket examiner based at the Pathankot headquarters, witnessed two individuals attempting to steal a mobile phone from a passenger in Coach S-1.
Intervening immediately, Kumar apprehended both suspects and handed them over to the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) for legal action. The grateful passenger lauded Kumar’s bravery, noting that such swift action significantly bolsters public confidence in railway security.
In a separate display of integrity on the same day, ticket checking staff on Train No. 14803 located a misplaced mobile phone on Seat No. 4 of Coach B-2. The staff secured the device and ensured its safe return to the rightful owner, who expressed sincere gratitude for the team’s honesty.
These actions highlight a growing trend within the Commercial Department where employees, guided by the Divisional Railway Manager and Sr. DCM, are prioritizing passenger welfare alongside their operational duties.
Commending the staff for their exemplary performance, Sr. DCM Uchit Singhal stated that such dedication serves as a benchmark for the entire division. He emphasized that the energy and integrity displayed by these employees not only protect passengers but also serve as an inspiration to the rest of the railway workforce.
