Southern Command and Western Naval Command Boost Joint Synergy in Mumbai
MUMBAI, March 17, 2026 — Strengthening the framework of integrated military operations, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command today.
During the visit, he held high-level discussions with Vice Adm Krishna Swaminathan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, FOC-in-C, Western Naval Command, focusing on enhancing operational preparedness and fostering seamless joint synergy across the Western theatre.
The interaction served as a critical follow-up to the outcomes of the Tri-Services Exercise Trishul conducted in November 2025. Both commanders reviewed the progress of joint operational coordination and explored advanced mechanisms for cross-domain integration.
A primary focus was placed on improving information-sharing protocols to ensure a unified response to emerging maritime and terrestrial security challenges. These discussions underscore the deepening culture of “Jointness” within the Indian Armed Forces, emphasizing that inter-Service cooperation is the cornerstone of modern integrated military responses.
In addition to operational strategy, the Army Commander conducted a comprehensive review of the infrastructure, administration, and welfare arrangements at the Colaba Military Station. Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth emphasized that providing a high-quality habitat for troops and maintaining reliable support systems are vital for sustaining high morale.
He reiterated that strong inter-Service cohesion, combined with robust administrative foundations, remains essential for the continued operational readiness of the forces stationed in the region.
